He is an MBA with a dual specialization in HR and Marketing and alumni of Institute of Hotel Management, Ahmedabad. He has also done a certification in guidance from IGNOU and NCERT. Shakesh has got a unique perspective on Indian cuisine in terms of their concepts, preparations, procedures involved, presentations and their regional aspects which he has also discussed in his book – Simplifying Indian Cuisine.

His last assignment was with Chandigarh College of Hospitality, Mohali as lecturer. He has mastered the fine art of Indian cuisine with various master chefs at ITC Maurya, New Delhi.
